Highlights from Pastor Jerry's message-April 21, 2024
Pastor Jerry introduced the service by showing a picture of the dedication of Hope Centre Church which took place on January 5, 2004 – twenty years ago. He explained how he had been told of a property and church building for sale in New Minas and after he and Bruce Clark (who later became the pastor) had investigated he informed the Bishop of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Canada and they purchased the property and building and God said to call it ‘HOPE.’ God knew what He was doing, and God used us to initiate it. God had already been there!
Pastor Jerry displayed a painting of the moon over Monument Valley to illustrate the bigness of God. We should not be surprised by the bigness of God. He created everything! Look to the One who will give us results.
Give glory to God, Church! We are the Church! You have as much of God as you are going to get! Be content with the resurrected Jesus! You will not develop in God if you do not study His Word. Though Pastor Jerry had been a member of two denominations before his conversion he said, “I was sadly lacking within.” The only One who can fill that emptiness is Jesus. Everything Jesus went through He withheld nothing. And know this… He has been before you in everything. He was all there!
HOPE is having a confident expectation (John 3:16). Before the world was… GOD IS!
Your past effects the way treatment people give you in the future. Don’t allow anger, unforgiveness and jealousy to turn you into something you are not! We need to understand, “It is finished!” We need to believe in a loving, compassionate Jesus!
Jesus gives us His God nature. Salvation is more than ‘I don’t go to hell!’ We get totally HIM! Jesus was compassionate even on the Cross… “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.” And to the man on the Cross Jesus says to the Father, “Charge it up to Me.” We have to understand that. Do not neglect this “so great a salvation.”
What is God asking us to do? Paramount to this church’s needs is PRAYER! On Sunday, we entered into 14 Days of Prayer. You must pray God-word prayers. You can’t direct God. From the beginning God thought forward! Never stop seeking biblical truths. It’s a process! I have sought the supply of God of all I know to be made free!
What the world needs now is an infusion of HOPE! These are rough times. “I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day” (2 Timothy 2:12).
Pastor Jerry had a dream: He saw a couple and they are concerned. They are going on a trip but had to tell their son they could not afford to take him, but if he could get to where they were going then they could get him from the ground floor to the 29th floor. The son says, “No, I am not going, I thought I was a part of this family.” Watching and hurting, I ask the Holy Spirit, “What are you saying?”
Some in the family are not serving God – are not praying. So, whatever we can do – do now! “Today is the day of salvation” (2Corinthians 6:2).
I saw our Prayer Cross extended to make room for prayers for family and friends. What happens when we seek all of what God has to offer? Everything! When the Spirit and the Word are working together we will see the power and promises of God manifested.
What is missing in your life? What is missing in this Church? POWER! We need the Word and Spirit coming together simultaneously to see the church grow!
Two things that became a reality for me when I was “again born:” 1) Jesus was bodily resurrected to feel what we feel. 2) The absolute revealing of the presence of the Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead. The Word and the Spirit – I knew it was a new day!
