“His Truth Endures Forever”
Pastor Jerry shared the latest update on the floods in Texas that has taken over 100 lives including girls from a Christian youth camp along with many still missing. PRAY FOR THE GRIEVING FAMILIES!
The enemy is saying, "Where is your God now?"
But 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (NKJV)
God is saying, IF WE DO SOMETHING, HE WILL DO SOMETHING! We need revival! Get ready for miracles! Be prepared! It’s coming our way! Trust in Him! What in your opinion was the greatest miracle in all of history? The resurrection!
Let’s look at Psalm 100 and its powerful truth…
Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
2 Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.
3 Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him and bless His name.
5 For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, HIS TRUTH ENDURES TO ALL GENERATIONS.
Pastor shared a story of a lady who gave her heart to the L V.1 - What is a joyful shout? PRAISE! It is something that comes from joyful enthusiasm – a dynamic reaction! It is not a natural thing (like when our team is winning). It comes out of spiritual passion. It’s a time of celebration! What does it signal? It means that everyone sees the same thing–the good things God is doing! (Illustration: When there is a car accident the lawyers look to get the truth from spectators on each side of the intersection.) Jesus said in Matthew 18:19, “I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.”
At the Institution of the Lord’s Supper… Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the ]new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. He was saying, “I was the ‘SEED’ prophesied;” (Genesis 3:15); I came, miracles were the order of the day! Everyone He touched and everyone who came to Him was healed.
V. 2 -” Serve the Lord with gladness…” – Everyone has a ministry. Serve with a joyful heart – with passion! Everything must be prepared! Someone must decide what has to be done! (See it from the intersection.) “Come” is an invitation enter into His presence. Enter in to all He has for you. He defeated the enemy, death and given us victory over sin! He will show you the path of life; in His presence is fullness of joy and pleasures forever more (Ps 16:11).
V. 3 – “Know that the Lord, He is God;” The word “know” means to have “intimate knowledge” - biblical intimacy.
(When the King James bible was being translated it was discovered that when it was said that “Jesus saw the multitudes He had compassion on them” the proper translation should have said, He “ached in His guts” - He felt for them!
He is God! He is the One who made us! We are His people the sheep of His pasture. We shall not want; He gives us rest and refreshes us; He leads us and stills our storms!
Pastor shared a story of a lady who gave her heart to the Lord, and the next day hurried to tell a drinking buddy of hers, “I have something you need!” “What is it?’ she asked. Her friend responded, “Jesus, your Saviour!” The friend called her church; they sent someone to explain the “good news” to her buddy. Immediately she received. She became a prayer warrior at City Church for over 25 years. This week she went home to be with the Lord.
There is a door opening to share the good news! He is going to do something in our community.
V.4 – “Be thankful to Him and bless His name!” We enter His presence with praise and thanksgiving, reminding ourselves how wonderful He is! Declare, “The Lord is good…”
V.5 – “For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.” God is a generational God! The enduring truth is JESUS – the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2) He is the Way, the Truth and the Life! (John 14:6) Every good and perfect gift comes from Him (James 1:17). His enduring truth is that He is our Saviour, our Deliverer, our Healer, our very present help in time of trouble! He will never leave us nor forsake us! (Hebrews 13:5)
HE IS OUR ENDURING TRUTH!
