THE COMPASSION OF THE FATHER

Anyone with a Father’s heart does not speak condemnation, but like Jesus to the woman caught in adultery they speak with compassion, “Go and sin no more!”

When Jesus is speaking, STAY STILL! God wants to talk! You can’t talk God into anything.

(Luke 15:11-27)  - The Prodigal Son                                                   

I want to say what Richard did not say in his message. He didn’t say what the Prodigal son wanted to say when he came to himself. He thinks to himself, “I know what I will do, I will arise, I will go, I will say…”  See the SELF control! Yourself isn’t sufficient – ONLY GOD!

He rehearsed it over and over again: “I will say to him, ‘I have sinned against heaven and you.’” He is looking for pity!  He was a manipulator from the start. He was really saying, “I want you dead. So, give me my inheritance now!”  

We must be careful we do not allow anyone to speak against what God wants!  God is where He wants you to be – OUT OF THE PIGPEN!

Pastor Jerry acts out the scene… The father sees the prodigal son coming, the father runs out to the son.  He is ready to embrace, he has compassion. Compassion literally means that “he ached in his gut!” He fell on his face and kissed him. He puts his hands over his son’s mouth forbidding him to make the negative confession, “I have sinned against heaven and before you and, I am no longer worthy to be called your son, make me one of your hired servants.” 

The father, confirming that his son is his son through love and not by some hired servant, brings out the robe, the ring, sandals for his feet. He held a feast for his son – for he said, ”Let us eat and make merry for this, my son, was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.”  

AND THAT IS OUR POSITION WITH FATHER GOD! OUR IDENTITY IS A BORN- AGAIN LOVE RELATIONSHIP, NOT A PAID WORSHIPPER OF THE FATHER.

Your kids, who have gone astray, know what you believe and they know they are wrong! Someone in the family has to stand up and pray and draw a line!
