The women came to prepare a dead body. They found stones rolled away. “I remember when I had the revelation that the stone had been rolled away from my tomb.” Jesus is the only religious leader who came out of the tomb. The women were perplexed. Angels reminded them that Jesus said that He would rise on the third day … and then they remembered His words (v.8). They then ran and told these things to the disciples. These disciples would become mighty men of faith in the Book of Acts.
V. 13-35 – Two disciples travelling on the Road to Emmaus were talking about all the things that had happened to Jesus. They were unhappy Christians. Jesus “drew near and went with them.” Jesus asked them why they were sad. He drew them out. Jesus wants you to express your doubts. They explained that they were hoping that Jesus would be the one who would redeem Israel from Roman rule and it was now the third day, they had gone to the tomb but did not see Him.
Jesus said to them, “O foolish ones and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken. Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory.” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Him. (v.25,27).
Later as they broke bread with Him “their eyes were opened, and they knew Him.” They said to one another, “Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked to us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?” They went and told others, “The Lord is risen indeed,” and they told them all the things that had happened.
When you ask Jesus to show up, He will not disappoint you. Pastor Jerry shared a testimony of how years ago he was in Yarmouth on a speaking engagement and the Holy Spirit impressed upon him to go to the shopping centre. In obedience he went from store to store. Upon entering a grocery store there he saw a woman he had not seen for many years – a divine appointment! She had gone through a hard time and was now divorced. He shared Jesus with her. Her countenance changed.
Always be obedient when He speaks. Your times are in His hands (Psalm 31:15).
