Highlights from Pastor Richard’s message on Dec 8
In the world today there is trust and mistrust. Confusion appears in many areas: I.e. People towards governments, employees towards employers, customers towards companies, etc. There are so many scams out there that people just don’t trust anymore.
What does God’s Word say? Read Psalm 37:1-7 - It encourages us to “trust in the Lord and do good.” We, as Christians, have Someone we can trust! God does not change; He is One we can trust. We can trust God’s Word! TRUST and TRUTH go hand in hand. Psalm 51:6 says, “You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.”
People expect us to be truthful! When telling a story, don’t exaggerate to make it sound better. In relationships (husband & wife, employer/employee, etc) without trust there will be stress.
We must believe in absolute truth. God created us to trust in something or someone other than ourselves. If you don’t trust in God, you will trust in something. READ all of Psalm 3:5 -11. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own under-standing; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (v. 5,6).
We have a desire to trust in something larger than ourselves. It becomes an idol when we do. God loves us and wants us to trust Him! Psalm 20:7 – “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”
· David trusted God and His Word when He said, “You will recover all.” (1 Samuel 30:8)
· Abraham obeyed and trusted God to provide the sacrifice (Genesis 22). God will provide when we trust Him.
We need to develop and recognize the sound of His voice. Sometimes you have to make a decision on the spur of the moment. If you are trusting God and the spirit is living in you and in your mind you will make the right decision. The devil thrives in our thought life. If something you hear doesn’t line up with the Word - it’s not God. Get alone with God and talk to Him.
· Joshua and Caleb trusted God & brought back a positive when they spied out the land. Those who didn’t trust brought back a negative report and resulted in 40 more years wondering in the wilderness (Numbers 13, 14).
· Noah built built an ark because He trusted God and did what He told him to do (Genesis 6).
· Moses trusted God and led the people out of Egypt, the Red Sea parted, and the enemy drowned (Exodus 14).
· Joshua heard & obeyed God’s commands and the walls of Jericho fell (Joshua 5 & 6).
Trust those thoughts from God and He will bring it to pass. We cannot out-trust God. Without Him we can do nothing. (John 15:5). IMPORTANT! It has to be our OWN personal trust in God – no one else can trust for you. (John 14:14) WE NEED TO KNOW IT IS GOD’S VOICE WE ARE HEARING!
God speaks to us in different ways: through dreams, through scripture, through visions. TRUST GOD that those on the Prayer Cross will come into God’s family. God can do anything. (“I never thought that I would be a pastor.”) He has the answer to every area of life. (James 4:8)
Pastor John & Heather joined via Zoom with a Christmas greeting…
John: We are in the Christmas Season, celebrating Christ’s coming! (John 3:16) God worked through much tribulation and pressed through every objection of men so we can live with Jesus in our hearts today. He loves us more than we could ever imagine. Nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38). He demonstrated that love on the Cross. Referring to the Prayer Cross: There is nothing too great for God!
Heather: Pastor Richard mentioned trusting God and that He wants 100% of us. Being Christmas, we are reminded that God gave 100% to us (John 3:16)! We want all He has; He wants all of us! Is there some areas where we haven’t given 100%? We will reap many benefits when we give God 100% throughout every day!
